Welcome to the Close to Home TV.Hey there. I am Samantha and am a HUGE fan of CBS's "Close to Home". So I am planning on blogging about the show some. So basically this little place will consist of show and episode commentary. I'll also cover some basic episode recaps. You can also chat in the forums or write a show review! Have fun :) Eventually I will work on a site design that is better than this template from movable type.
Close to Home and Ghost WhispererPosted on Saturday Mar 11 CBS has NOT picked up Close to Home for season 2 (yet). They did pick up a second season of Jennifer Love Hewitt's Ghost Whisperer though. This doesn't mean the show is cancelled, but that CBS wants to hold off and see how the last few episodes of the season go before making an announcement. Double Life WifePosted on Nov 25 The story behind this episode is great. It is ripped from the headlines and I think the topic is just so interesting that it will pull large audience numbers. Annabeth finds an incriminating photo while doing research which leads her to unravel a woman's double life. Since this post is early, I won't spoil any more. New York Post reviewPosted on Nov 22 The Post is raving about the show! This is perfect. After the pickup we can expect papers to really pump out stories on Close to Home. This will hopefully give the show's numbers a surge. Read the Article Why the change in ratings?Posted on Nov 21 The recent spike in ratings is due to one thing: a brilliant move to switch Close to Home to the post-ghost-whisperer slot. I was saying this needed to be done after I watched the first two eppys of both shows. The retention rates are superb (90% +) which means that the show caters to GW viewers perfectly! Good job CBS. Oh Goodness. 23 Episodes...Posted on Nov 20 ...HERE WE COME! The show got a full season order today from Execs at CBS. We are going to see a LOT more episodes this season and if the numbers hold solid and we get 5-10% more over the course of the season, we will definitely see a season 2! The season 2 barrier is crucial people, so lets not stop watching. I want to say "good job" to the cast and crew. Buya!Posted on Nov 18 The ratings for Romeo and Juliet Murders were stellar! An improvement over last week. A press release from CBS states that they are "feelin'" this show (my words not theirs). I bet $10 that next week they will announce a full season pickup. I'm clairvoyant like that. Romeo and Juliet MurdersPosted on Nov 14 Great episode! This was a good one folks. If you missed it, I suggest you make buddy buddy with someone that has a TiVo. Annabeth works on a case in which two parents are murdered after they find out a dark secret their children were hiding from them. The case is much deeper than meets the eye. I won't soil this one for you guys...especially since some of you West Coasters havn't seen it yet. Finally in this episode we get some good character work. Annabeth and Maureen open up to each other with a "Grass is always Greener" moment. We learn that Anna resents her family somewhat and that Maureen is lonely. Ratings time! Dum da dum dum.Posted on Nov 9 The ratings are in. And the show is doing pretty well. Averaging close to 10 million viewers for a freshman drama isn't bad, especially given all of the saturation out there (ahem..CSI!). Anyways, these numbers ought to be enough for the bigwigs at CBS to give the show a full season order of 23 episodes! I will keep you posted on that. I think the numbers could climb because the story telling in the show isn't necessarily past-episode-dependent. So things are looking positive fans! Keep tuning in and a tell a friend. Divine DirectionsPosted on Nov 6 Annabeth does her normal sluething to find out a possible motive for the murder of a man by his wife. The wife is seemingly perfect. A regular church-goer and the whole lot, but Annabeth digs deeper and finds some darkness in this woman's past. A judge says that this woman is not crazy and must stand trial. Maureen also goes beyond appearances of a seemingly easy homicide case. I am starting to think the writers are going to need a new theme after a few more episodes. We need some more depth here. Subruban ProstitutionPosted on Nov 2 This episode was great. I mean, Surburban Prosti's? I can't say i've seen this before. But hey, why not right? We are in America where we can get just about anything whenever and wherever we want it...I mean this isn't too far off from Desperate Housewives right? In this episode Annabeth tries to be sly and convince the housewive prostitutes to rat out their leader in court, but they are all afraid of the social whiplash (probably should have thought about that before whorring themselves out). Steve tries to push for more drug convinctions to assure a grant from the government. Overall a pretty decent episode, though not the best. Is it me or is...Posted on Oct 29 Does the official CBS Close to Home site seem really barren to anyone else? I mean come on. They don't give you anything cool there. They need to take a page from ABC and FOX who know how to make an official site. Anyways, that is a semi-related rant for the day. I'm a LudditePosted on Oct 25 Apparently I wasn't built to mess with technology because I lost our archives somehow. James is going to help me out, but for now we are starting anew. Sorry ppls. |
